First Generation Altima Hybrid
Based on the fourth generation Altima, the Nissan Altima Hybrid was the first hybrid car from the automaker, introduced in 2007 and discontinued in 2011. It was initially only available to 10 states and Canada. Features on the Hybrid were identical to that of the gasoline-only 2.5 S trim.
After the 2011 model year Nissan discontinued the Altima Hybrid due to poor sales.
2007-2011 Altima Hybrid Drivetrain
The 2007-2011 Altima’s hybrid-drive system was licensed from Toyota’s hybrid technology until Nissan could develop their own in-house.
The Hybrid featured a 2.5L Inline-4 engine (QR25DE) producing 158 hp (118 kW) and 162 lb⋅ft (220 N⋅m) of torque. Power is applied through a CVT transmission.
The electric motor/generator put out an additional 40 horsepower putting out max power of 198 hp (148 kW), and 199 lb⋅ft (270 N⋅m).
2007-2011 Altima Hybrid Fuel Economy
Its fuel efficiency was 6.7 L/100 km (42 mpg‑imp; 35 mpg‑US) city and 7.1 L/100 km (40 mpg‑imp; 33 mpg‑US) highway, based on revised EPA measures for fuel economy ratings.
