Electric Motors
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe features two different electric motors within the drivetrain.
The first electric motor can be found attached to the back of the engine and in front of the transmission. This electric motor acts in two modes, power delivery (if accelerating) and power recovery (if decelerating).
The second electric motor can be found within the bellhousing of the transmission itself, where a torque converter might normally reside. This motor also assists in power production and recovery.
All of this power delivery and recovery is orchestrated through a well-programmed control system that applies power seamlessly. The drivetrain is so robust that Jeep offers it in a Rubicon version designed for more aggressive off road use.

The gasoline engine in the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, designated JL 2.0L GMET4. An air-to-water intercooler removes heat from the charged intake air temperature coming from the Honeywell (formerly Garrett) turbocharger.
