About the Ford C-Max
The 5-door Ford C-Max MPV was initially available only in Europe and New Zealand before expanding to the US. Ford introduced the C-Max in the United States as its first hybrid-only offering.
Ford C-Max History
The Ford C-Max was produced between 2003 and 2019. The C-Max Hybrid and the C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid were both released in the US starting 2012.
Ford C-Max Engine and Electric Drivetrain
The C-Max Energi uses a regenerative braking system capable of capturing and reusing more than 95% of the braking energy normally lost during the braking process.

C-Max Hybrid Key Fob Battery
The Ford C-Max Hybrid’s key fob uses a CR2032 battery.

To access, you’ll want to first separate the key fob halves by inserting a slotted screw driver with a large head into the slot in the recess at the end of the key fob and twisting. The two halves should pry apart, where you will remove the old battery from the back half using a precision screwdriver to pop the battery out of it’s retainer. Then reinstall the new battery in the same orientation and recombine the two halves to complete the job.

For the 2017 model year, the SEL trim level on both the C-Max Hybrid and Energi would be renamed to a “Titanium” trim level.
2017 Ford C-Max Hybrids and plug-in Energis have restyled headlights and taillights compared to previous models.
The Energi Plug-In Hybrid is only available in SEL trim except for the 2017 model year, where you could get the C-Max Energi in SE trim.
