About the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid
GM launched a hybrid version of the Silverado & Sierra in 2004, becoming the first ever GM hybrid passenger vehicle.

GMT800 / Silverado PHT
Besides the typical 12V automotive battery the PHT uses three additional 14V valve regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries mounted under the rear seat to store and provide power. The truck uses a 5.3L Vortec 5300 V8 for gasoline engine power.
GMT900 / Silverado & Sierra Hybrid
Available in either two- or four-wheel-drive, the Silverado 1500 Hybrid is powered by a 6.0-liter V8. It’s joined by two 60-kilowatt electric motors supplied by a nickel–metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack under the rear seat. On its own, the V8 is rated at 332 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque. GM engineers say that combined output with the electric motors is 379 hp. The unique transmission houses the electric motors along with three different planetary gear sets and four traditional clutches.
The 2009-2014 models were sold only as quad cab models and come in two trim packages, Value and Premium.
K2XX / Silverado & Sierra Hybrid
Resurfacing in 2016, the Silverado & Sierra Hybrid’s 5.3L V8 engine came with an 8-speed automatic transmission and has the same horsepower and torque as the 5.3 in the standard Silverado.
The 2016 – 2018 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid e-Assist models were sold only in California.

Something to keep in mind: Traditional jumper cables are typically designed to handle the high amperage load of a starter motor. Electric Motor

Exclusive technology to the eAssist system includes Stop/Start capability, electric power boost while driving in four-cylinder mode, and regenerative braking to recharge the battery pack.
