About the Tesla Cybertruck
The Tesla Cybertruck is not yet in production as of July 2023, but is hotly anticipated by the market, and sure to be a media icon in both status and memes.
The Cybertruck pushes the boundaries of what it means to be a truck, while simultaneously transporting fans back to a future we haven’t seen since 1985.
While the Cybertruck will most certainly not appeal to everyone, it only needs to appeal to those willing to fork over a deposit to reserve the first models to the market. Undoubtedly, much will be written about the experience behind the wheel of a Cybertruck, with the typical big hype and small truths that surround high-profile autos. And make no mistake, this is a very high-profile auto – just check out the specs:

Drive Battery FAQs
How much do Tesla Cybertruck replacement drive batteries cost?
Based on an average kWh price of $153 for a replacement Tesla battery, and knowing the Tesla Cybertruck might have a 200 kWh battery, we estimate the replacement cost of a Cybertruck battery to be around $30,600.
Where do I purchase a Tesla Cybertruck replacement drive battery?
The Dealership – Likely the only place to find a replacement drive battery for the Tesla Cybertruck is the dealer themselves.
Where is the drive battery located in the Tesla Cybertruck?
The drive battery in the Tesla Cybertruck is located under the belly of the vehicle, between the front and rear wheels. You can access the battery from under the vehicle.
Where is the drive battery in the Tesla Cybertruck manufactured?
The main drive battery, or traction battery, in the Cybertruck is built in Tesla’s very own Fremont Battery Factory, located in Fremont, California, USA.

Tesla Cybertruck Charge-Port Location
The charging port on the Tesla Cybertruck is located on the driver’s side of the vehicle, near the rear wheel opening.
Tesla Cybertruck Charge-Plug Type
The Tesla Cybertruck uses a type 2 combo CCS connector to charge its drive battery.
How long does the Tesla Cybertruck take to charge on a public DC fast charger?
Tesla mentioned at their Semi Delivery Event that the Cybertruck would feature megawatt charging capabilities (Timestamp: 26:37). This is achieved on a smaller cable via “Immersion Cooling Technology” that helps dissipate the cable heat typically associated with such high throughput.
What do the charge lights mean on a Tesla Cybertruck?
If anything like other Teslas, the Cybertruck will use specific lights to communicate the status of the charge port on the vehicle.
Watch this quick video explaining the charge port light:

Auxiliary Battery
The Tesla Cybertruck will not utilize a traditional 12V battery to power low-voltage components such as computers and lighting but rather will use a revolutionary 48V architecture. A 48V architecture comes with several advantages:
- Smaller Wiring – The use of a 48V electrical architecture allows for the use of smaller wiring to power the components, similar to a phone or a laptop.
- More Power – For auxiliary systems such as winches, lights and components that benefit from additional power, a 48V architecture puts more on tap.
This architecture no doubt allows for only 48V-specific components, but we are betting a 48V to 12V converter will be available either from the factory or from the aftermarket.
Other automakers are already said to be following Tesla’s lead here, and are working on their own 48V architectures. This will no doubt usher in a new era of low-voltage batteries.
If you weren’t already aware, 48V batteries are already on the market from Amazon and others.
Remote Key Fob Battery
If the Tesla Cybertruck key fob uses the same 3V lithium battery as other Tesla vehicles, it will likely feature a CR2032 lithium battery.

Electric Motors
The Tesla Cybertruck will feature single-motor, dual-motor, and tri-motor variants capable of impressive performance figures, by the measure of any pickup.
The motor used is a “Internal Permanent Magnet – Synchronous Reluctance Motor” or as the insiders refer to it, “IPM-SynRM”
Single-Motor | Dual-Motor | Tri-Motor | |
Electric Motor Peak Output | 200 kW 268 hp | 400 kW 536 hp | 600 kW 805 hp |
Electric Motor Torque (est) | – | – | 1033 lb-ft 1400 N-m |
Transmission
The Tesla Cybertruck does not exactly use a transmission, but rather uses direct drive from the electric motor to provide power directly at the wheels or axle.
