About the Taylor Dunn Tee Bird
Tee Bird History
Taylor-Dunn’s GT371 or “Tee-Bird” line was introduced in 1961 and ran until 1985, the year they built their last golf cart.
In 1974, Tee Bird ads touted the “…unbelievably smooth ‘Glide-Ride’ provided by our unique new Uni-Spring Suspension System…” There is also the “new VRF Speed Control” where “non-electronic control is stripped of amp-eating resistance coils, allowing the car to cruise at half or full speed with equal efficiency“.

Taylor Dunn Tee Bird Replacement Electric Motors
If your Tee Bird is showing the following symptoms, you may need a new electric motor:
- Decreasing performance
- You might first ensure your motor is properly mounted and has sufficient lubrication before considering a replacement motor
- No power at all – this typically means two things:
- There is a short circuit somewhere
- And electrical overload caused your electric motor to shut off
- Overheating issues with the motor
- Excessive vibration as the motor turns
The good news is electric motors are still available. You can find a Nivel 36/48 Volt Drive Motor for Taylor Dunn (Part #70-054-00) on Amazon that should serve as an excellent replacement. As always, please do your research as your specific vehicle may not match the information here.

How to safely recycle Taylor Dunn Tee Bird Batteries
Batteries contain rare materials that can be reclaimed and sold, so many different organizations will gladly take them from you. There should be no need to ever throw an automotive battery in the garbage.
- You can often sell your old batteries back to automotive part stores when buying new as a “core charge”. Make sure to always take your old batteries with you when buying new.
- Your local municipality will also have options for disposing of your batteries. Check your local government websites for these options and if the information is not available, reach out via email. Chances are you will get pointed in the right direction.
- Your local waste management facility will also be able to provide disposal services.
Safe and responsible battery disposal is the smart thing to do and ensures more materials are being reused more often.
