A3 e-Tron Hybrid Drivetrain Information
The A3 e-tron shares the same PHEV powertrain used in both the Volkswagen Golf GTE and Passat GTE.
The A3 Sportback e-tron is powered by a 1.4 L TSI gasoline engine coupled with a 75 kW electric motor, which transfers power through the A3’s six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Drive Battery
The plug-in hybrid has an 8.8 kWh battery pack that delivers an all-electric range of 50 km (31 miles) on the NEDC cycle, and a total of 940 km (584 miles) overall.
The revised 2020 model featured the same battery and drivetrain as before, now rated at 22 miles of electric range under the new WLTP test.

Audi A3 e-Tron Key Fob Battery Replacement
The A3 e-tron uses a CR2032 battery in the Key Fob.
- To replace this battery, simply slide out the physical valet key by pressing the release button.
- Use the key to pry the two halves of the key fob apart.
- Pop out the old battery and install the new battery in the same orientation.
- Push the two halves back together.
- Push the valet key back into it’s slot and test.
